Exposed to Distance - Dialogue remains

The Corona virus pandemic poses enormous challenges and implications for society on a global level. The health, psychological, economic, social and political consequences of this pandemic will have a profound impact on our biographies, not only as individuals, but also as a community. We must keep in mind that we are all in the same boat and that solidarity is the means of choice to mitigate both the crisis and the post-crisis recovery phase. The weakest among us - with 'us' referring to all people worldwide - must now be given our full-fledged efforts.

At EDP e.V., we hope that the calls to maintain physical distance from one another will have an effect and can stretch the time frame of the pandemic. However, we do not wish that social distancing will result from this, because what people need at such a time is the exact opposite: care, support, comfort, the feeling of belonging and a sense of community and security. Our goal is to achieve all this, along with maintaining the necessary physical distance.

Our thoughts go out to our many partner organisations, their staff, our many host families in precarious life situations and to all those who are suffering from this pandemic.
Furthermore, we extend our deepest gratitude to all those who devote themselves fully, and to the point of exhaustion, in order to serve communities globally: especially researchers, doctors and nursing staff.

We place our trust in the creative abilities of people and hope that this crisis will allow us to emerge even stronger.
